Back2theLand is a source of information that discusses hand-on experience with country living, rural philosophy, gardening, and farm animals. Highlighting this delightful series of articles is sharing with the readers insights and "how to's" based on the writer's experiences over twenty-five years in the New River Valley area.

Mr. Steel is a retired Naval Disabled Combat Veteran, decorated from the Viet Nam war. Following his distinguished career, he retired to Floyd, Virginia, where he bought a 300 year-old farm. Writing and innnovating homesteading concepts are part of his everyday life.

He lives with his wife, Diane, of 34 years. They have one daughter, Christina, who is now completing her Ph.D. in Norfolk, Va.

Mr. Steel is still writing and working on a handbook series: Back2theLand.
