Strings
When we were foster parents we attended a workshop on intercommunication of parents, teachers, children, biological parents, siblings, peers, etc.
The therapist used a string back and forth connecting each of us with the theoretical other people in the foster child’s life events, families, school, peers pressure until eventually we were enshrouded like a spiders web in confusion of communication, stressors and breakdowns of the psyche.
Often I think of that “string” and how, even today we are enshrouded in day-to-day activities, unknowingly confused and stressed. Consider how the string will be affecting us all in a few short years to come, and if we can cope.
On the National Scale we have a migration of Latin American people swarming the southern, northern and costal borders demanding entitlement by their numbers, now measured by one source between 26 and 32 million illegal entries. Recently it has become about 6 million additional souls, all for the most part good people, fleeing unbelievable hardships and violence in their home countries. This impact is a string. It does affect you and me, whether we are liberal, or conservative in the financial arena of life. To feed, house, provide medical care, education, jobs, daily monies to buy groceries and clothing is measured in the billions of dollars. Presently two major countries, Brazil and Venezuela have collapsed in South America. Mexico is facing ruin with collapsing commodities. We may expect another swarm of immigrants from Latin Americas.
The school systems, now overburdened with as many as 40 students in a classroom, all speaking different dialects have now been regulated not to learn English, but to learn Spanish, the emerging dominant language. Perhaps, not in our small community, but it is coming here too. Most noteworthy on this topic is the funding for the school system. Recall 27 years ago when legalized casino gambling was proposed to this state, the acceptance would provide massive and total contribution to the then, already under- funded public school systems. That was heralded as doubling the financial resource of education costs. Today, the funding, is decreasing but the most important part is that the monies contributed by law from the casino sector has been placed in the general fund of the state government, the actual state funding of the public schools is no longer a largess from the state coffers, it solely comes from the casino contribution. The public schools are no better off now that they were 27 years ago. Considering inflation, the new twists in educational demands of the “No Child Left Behind” political rhetoric, plus the expenses of serving the immigrants, one begins to see the string attached to the taxpayer not the casino contribution.

Immigration in Europe also has strings attached to you and me. The refugees from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and other African Nations, now measured in the tens of thousands have reached the peak of their four year odyssey this year, 2015, by mass swarming of Greece through Macedonia, Serbia, Hungry and into Austria with the ultimate prize: Germany; wherein absolute benefits await-most based on no work-no gain.
Interestingly enough it was a demographer that reasoned, based on Germany’s liberal commentary of supporting 800,000 this year, and the (tens of millions expected next year) is that figuring 1% of the 80 million German citizens, the comparison is that the USA could take in the refugees at 15,000,000 based on our own population density. This commentary is frightening enough for the German citizens who in 2017 are expecting tens of millions of immigrants-militant immigrants, who are already entitled-demanding free transportation, food, education, housing and job training for the illiterate. It is no longer just Syria per se, but now includes Asians and Pacific Sumatra. The cost to Germany this year is estimated to be 6,000,000,000 euros. Other European countries are now balking about the expect hordes, putting up walls and calling out their Army to shuffle these migrants to the next country on their journey. Austria with only about 6 million citizens is overwhelmed with no place to put them.

The problem of housing these people is addressed by the Pope as advocating each of the Faithful take in one family of immigrants, feed and house them. Such a precedent of taking in the migration millions implies that you are also connected to a string of similarity precedent here in the USA when the 15,000,000 are on your community’s doorstep. The United Nations has gone broke providing a $14.00 a day food ration, per person, for Refugee camps in Jordan. Being broke is a common thread in Appalachia, many people go hungry each night, their children go hungry, the families break up-ostensibly to have food and shelter as an unmarried parent you can gain welfare but as a couple, a married live together couple your assistance is next to nothing. The family unit is being destroyed.
While the liberal thinkers ponder and push for the United States to open its doors, like we did for the Latin American refugees and” Dreamers” we as a nation still neglect our own “refugees”: the 6,000,000 hungry-homeless children and the vast numbers of ever growing homeless veterans fraught with medical problems from the endless, useless war in the Mid East. Let us not forget the destitute “middle class” now wandering the soup kitchens and food handouts from church groups.
The question arises: What are you going to do Mr. President? What are you, the citizen, going to do? The string continues to wrap about us like the evil spider web; ever so slowly, tightened until you are poisoned by the propaganda of Washington elitist sycophants in the guise of elected representatives. More is the pity.
As a nation we are broke. Debt reins king with the illusion of fiat money, paper markers handed out by the pallet load; now with new faces on the twenty and ten dollar bills to appease the minority masses who distain the founding fathers who may have owned slaves. There is a new debt, the debt of credit. Economists and bankers see no balance of a budget. The shift from a dollar based on oil futures vs.: the emerging Chinese monetary unit is contributing to the cyclical dropping of the DOW- a measure of the world financial market share. The bear market we are experiencing is herald by the doomsayers of a world wide Great Depression from which we may never recover. However what may befall our financial illusion is how we perceive our personal family security string that bines us to the global market.
That string is the Bank of Wall Street power. Nagging worry about the dollar, the family loans, the promise of wealth, and job security through Student Loans, I find it interesting that Student Loans, by an act of Congress some years back prohibit bankruptcy of the student faced with unrelenting debt. With a poor job market other than: “Do you want fries with that burger?” the graduating student, perhaps a non- graduating student who will predictably drop out of school in the second year, now faces unemployment joining in the ranks of 92, 000,000 un-documented other un-employed in this Nation. The smoke and mirrors illusion of only a few hundreds of thousands unemployed with figures of up and down thousands is another Washington bean counter spin creating a political happy face for elections.
Medicare is expected to have a major monetary increase this next year forcing thousands to consider the Affordable Care Act of nationalized health care as a retreat. The string of course has a goal to do away with Social Security funds shifting them to the Wall Street Casino for investments. You as the string attached will be forced with your computer to select investment strategies for your survival-not to say that Social Security Old Age Pension is a saving grace for seniors. Every time a senior has a raise in Old Age payments (Current projected 1.3%), Medicare (part B) also rises.
This next Federal Tax 1040 form will require each person to state who their Health Care Provider is and if you do not have health care and do not sign up for the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) you will have stiff monetary fines. The string becomes tighter as we move along.
Abraham Lincoln, the President of the United States, known as the Great Emancipator of the African Black Slaves in 1865, was faced with the emerging lobby to gather up the emancipated and ship them back to Africa, or to Central America. To protect their interest the 14th Amendment was enacted to the Unites States Constitution which ensured that the former slaves, born in this country, were considered citizens and afforded all the rights and privileges. Of course we know that it took another 100 years to bring that right to bear. Now the string of the African Black 14th Amendment to our Constitution is benefiting the Latino Pregnant woman who births on United States soil. This affords the child dual citizenship with the mother as a caregiver to reside in the United States. The mothers can now sponsor her family members to immigrate to the United States. Think about 15, 000,000 “guest” Syrians’, Iraqis’ and Afghans’ who may come here birthing children. There is a growing sentiment to repeal this 14th Amendment, by Congressional action, or National Referendum, since it is considered outmoded and a detriment to our country.
When I was a young sailor overseas we were cautioned, at that time, about “White Russian “ (a political label for a non-communist) women who would pay you to marry, thereby gaining legal right to immigrate to the United States. Later on with my short romances the girls of the various countries all had the same idea. Most were, surprisingly savvy about the 14th Amendment to our Constitution. Currently, memory serving, to marry a foreign national (usually from a marriage based computer e-mail service) requires a 3 year waiting period with her in this country. I rather liked the Russian girls in Australia as the Grandmother plied me with copious Vodka, but there were no strings for me, my ship sailed.
The conservative thinkers fear the unstable Middle East because the Iran Nuclear Weapons accord that give license to construct, legally, nuclear ballistic missiles on a limited future time frame. Isis news predominates the terrorist hyperbole, yet Isis is not that large, it is a “Bad Ass” group following historical successes in warfare to be a scary Genghis Kahn type oppressor that is ruthless in its cause. In fact throughout history, winners have always been the most ruthless albeit leaving a pile of skulls for the dissidents. Our military, and the coalition of Middle East countries have the whither all to defeat Isis, but strings of policy dictate that cost of waging war is not acceptable. While all this builds up into a war cloud, the draft for young men and probably young women will predominate the news creating a new military machine ready to fight for the American Way of capitalist adventure. The atrocities of Isis will inflame the voting public and ensure support for another war; after all we have spaced a time frame to birth and grow new young cannon fodder. Your string is, again, the propaganda machine from Washington vying for a Mid East War, probably lasting at least anoher 30 years that most will support even if they are Democrats.
More potential war clouds gather as Russia is putting Russian solders in Syria to support the President of that country. Not only is Syria fighting Isis but rebel forces that we have supported. The entire Mid East is a conglomerate of different tribal religions with centuries of hate between them. No wonder there has never been peace in the Mid East.
